Botanical Gardens

We are yet to have our new brief, but today in textiles we went to the botanical gardens to take pictures and gather inspiration for our prints. I admit I got distracted at times by making interesting colours and patterns opposed to useful inspiration for print.



Again ..

Mert and Marcus for POP magazine. Really like the lighting and mood in these. They are soo beautiful and this is essense I want my garment to carry. The suggestion of a corset in the first is delicate and very effective. It has an heir of underwear about it and I think the fabric choice is perfect! The shape of the sleeves is goregous and love how they have used a sheer fabric which creates the silhoutte with out making them to harsh and allowing the corset, fabric and the entire garment shine. The second garment is very different, it has a traditional corset but still yet in a contempary way. Love the suggestion of a traditional dress with a bustle and the fabric which compliments the silhoutte perfectly.

A different collage

Today in photography we were given a sort of questionnaire to do and then we were asked to build a collage up using our answers as a base. Some of the questions included what cant we live without which we all answered phone, bed, make up and so on and which celebrities we found annoying which created some great debates. One of the questions that I found interesting was which events that are happening at the moment concern you i answered poverty and the huge differences. When I started looking for images I didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted but I found a great image of some poverty stricken people i felt it had a lot of emotion in it so i decided to work around that. So along with that I used an image from a fashion magazine, and bullets and some text from the newspapers it sounds a bit random but i think it works okay. So after doing that we copied it onto acetate and then exposed it onto photographic paper. After doing the whole process my final image came out a bit different to what imagined but I think I like it over all. I would like to have go at this process again and see what different results i can get. Upset however that I didnt take a picture so I shall take one next week and post it.
