As always, I began with a very broad and varied research of the theme Royalty.
I looked and have taken inspiration from many beautiful collections. Such as this Givenchy one. I love the embellishment. I know I want that to feature heavily in my garment.
I looked at underwear and corsets as corsets was outlined in our brief. I was really inspired by this and the idea that you can turn into a garment. And also the connotations of certain garments.
This Page was the turning point in my project. I knew from the beginning I didn't want to do anything obvious or that I had worked on previously. I looked at Mistresses and love letters. I Loved the idea of the secrets and scandals that could be hidden in a palace. I also started to develop some surface patterns and i like where they heading at the moment.
So i decided I wanted to base my theme and my further research from this point on the idea of ' A Royal Misstress'.
I have started to look at Edwardian Lingerie as this was the time it went from a necessity to something desirable. I like the idea of combing the two roles of a Royal Mistress; the one where she is seen in court and has to be respectable and the side which is the Mistress, the fact she has to hide this is really interesting. Maybe this is where lingerie comes into the design.

I am really enjoying this project and I think this is my best sketchbook so far, and I hope this reflects in my garment. I pushed myself in my last brief and I aim to do this again.
